Outline

The "Astronomy building" was opened in 1962, the"Science and Technology building" was opened in 1964, and the "Life Sciences building" was opened in 1989.
Both the Astronomy building and Science & Technology building were closed in August 2010 for renovations and have become new buildings.
The Science Museum comprises three parts, just as before: the Astronomy building, Technology and Science building and Life Sciences building. These buildings are described below.

Science and Technology
building:
The museum is entered through this building.
From the 2nd to the 6th floor are the permanent exhibitions. Special exhibitions and showings are held in the event hall in the basement.
An astronomical observatory is on the 7th floor.
The permanent exhibitions, exhibit the basic principles and cutting-edge technologies as they are used in society in a systemic manner covering physics, chemistry and industry.
These exhibits inspire children and stimulate their curiosity and spirit of inquiry towards unknown scientific themes at all times.
In addition to the permanent exhibition, large-scale exhibitions are installed through two open ceiling stratums.
Astronomy
building
This building consists of floors 4 through 6, the main part of which is the sphere facility.
The 4th floor has a stage where performances are held.
The 5th houses a permanent exhibition and 6th floor is the planetarium.
In the planetarium, visitors from preschool age to the elderly are given explanations and program structuring and learn truths about celestial objects and phenomena.
The planetarium will arouse visitors' interest in starry skies as scientific objects rather than as mere objects for admiration.
Life Sciences
building
This building was opened in 1989.
The permanent exhibitions are on floors 2 through 5. The rest area is on the first floor and the auditorium is on the basement floor.
What is life? Life science is a study to answer this question in a comprehensive manner.
With life science as its theme, the Life Sciences building poses questions for humans that will help them lead lives of affluence and health on this planet, grouping them into the three genres of “life”, “existence” and “the environment”.
